Vonda O. Long, Ph.D. is a professor, therapist, author, and adventurer.    A Counselor Educator at the University of New Mexico for two decades, she has been honored with the Graduate Professor of the Year Award, and has received several research grants to study gender differences in human development and self-esteem. She has authored several books, including Communication Skills in Counseling; Facilitation of Personal Growth in Self and Others, Group Practicum, and Experiential Counseling. She has keynoted, presented workshops and facilitated groups for personal and professional growth on university campuses, for public schools or in agency settings in all regions of the country.

As a therapist in private practice, she is a
licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and National Certified Counselor (NCC).  Her passion is facilitating groups focused on personal and professional growth, with an emphasis on retreats and experiential and wilderness workshops.  Raised the daughter of a rancher turned packer in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest, she has facilitated groups in the wilderness from Canada to Mexico, including ranch retreats, backpacking, canoeing, horseback trips, cross-country skiing and rafting wilderness retreats.

She has served on Mountain Rescue for 10 years, been a
licensed Emergency Medical Technician for 15 years, an American Canoe Association certified canoe and whitewater rafting instructor, and is certified in swift-water rescue.
