Wilderness workshops focus on intensive personal or professional growth, using an outdoor setting and activity as a catalyst for growth. Workshops include the following components:
* Identified Goal or Theme
* Outdoor Activity
* Group & Individual Processing of the Experience
The purpose of a Passageway Adventure is for individuals and groups to progress toward individually identified goals for growth. Goals for example, might focus on communication, co-operation, self-esteem, team-building, control issues, co-dependence, or behavior change. Individuals will be invited to identify personal goals and to challenge themselves, and are encouraged to find their own comfort level for that challenge- both in terms of physical skills and group dynamics.
Identified themes or goals, include, but are not limited to:
* Restructuring Self-Defeating Behaviors
* Communication Skills
* Trust & Team Building
* Self-Esteem
Activities include:
* Ranch Retreats at a working cattle ranch setting
* River rafting trips
* Lake canoeing
* Backpacking and Day Hikes
* Cross-country Skiing and Snow Shoeing
* Ropes & Challenge Courses
* Group Problem Solving Activities.
Passageway's philosophy is built on the belief that safety is a pre-requisite to a successful trip. Individual and group safety is therefore always our first priority-- both physically and emotionally. Because Wilderness Adventure requires such a unique combination of skills and experience in order to assure a safe and successful experience, the following four major areas are regarded as essential provisions for every Passageway Adventure:
* Effective therapeutic facilitation
* Proficiency in specific physical skills
* Qualified wilderness guide
* Certified medical and rescue support
Groups are generally limited to 8-10 participants. Workshops & retreats can be customized for specific groups and specific goals.
